Holidayshed are proud supporters of the armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

During every online booking we give our customers the opportunity to donate just £2 to a very worthy cause. The total £2 online charity donation goes direct to our chosen charity Help for Heroes who offer amazing support for our wounded soldiers.

Founded in 2007 by Bryn and Emma Perry Help for Heroes, or H4H as it is also known, collects charity donations which are used to support wounded British servicemen and women. Since its launch in October 2007 and, with the backing and support of Celebrities, including Jeremy and Francie Clarkson, The Royal Family, The Media and countless ordinary decent people, it has raised over £1m a month since then. Your donations are spent on making grants that aim to provide practical, direct support for our wounded.

There are lots of different projects H4H runs, one of their most recent and ambitious is the building of more Personnel Recovery Centres (PRCs) which help soldiers to make the swiftest possible return to duty, or smoothest transition to an appropriately skilled and supported civilian life. They will be made available for seriously wounded, injured, or long-term sick soldiers, irrespective of cause of injury, within a conducive military setting. Help for Heroes is raising money to open more, fully comprehensive centres accommodating up to 20 residents with more staff at Colchester, Catterick, Tidworth, Aldershot and a more permanent solution in Edinburgh. The current target for this is to raise £20 million by October 2010 and while the support has been amazing, there is still a way to go.

Help for Heroes also offers charity events and fundraisers including the Big Battlefield Bike Ride and the Kilimanjaro trek. The Big Battlefield Big Ride is the signature event in the Help for Heroes calendar. In the last week of May 2010, 300 cyclists will gather at HMS Victory, the Flagship of Britain's greatest wounded hero, Admiral Lord Nelson. They will set off to ride 350 miles across France and at the same time raise a great deal of money to support our current wounded heroes. All the H4H challenges are some of the most inspirational and life-affirming experiences you will ever have the chance to undertake. They offer a chance to see breathtaking beauty and remarkable cultural diversity, while raising an incredible amount for our wounded heroes.
